on a personal note ...
Me at around 125 lbs. in 2000.
UPDATE (5.31.13): After reassessing my fitness goals, I realized that I didn't really need to lose more weight, but that I wanted to begin to lean down and tone up. SO I began weight/resistance training. Gaining muscle takes longer than losing weight, so it's a process. I am still taking two shakes a day.
Currently I am 125 lbs. and at the 21% body fat mark (down 4%!!!!!). My NEW goal is to reach 18% body fat (and that may change once I see what 18% actually looks like on me! :).
My 90 Day Challenge ends June 1st, but I will be embarking on a new Challenge to meet my body fat goals! ViSalus has changed the way I see health and fitness. You truly have nothing to lose and EVERTHING to gain!!
UPDATE (4.26.13): I'm still going strong. Pairing the shakes with workouts and healthy food choices is truly yielding results ... sometimes the loss of 1 to 2 lbs. in a day!
April 1st: 135.5 (I cheated BIG TIME on Easter & my son's birthday, but it was easy to get the weight back off!)
April 8th: 131.5
April 15th: 129.5
April 22nd: 128
April 26 (today): 126.5 (!!)
GOAL: 120 lbs. ALMOST THERE!!!!!!
UPDATE (3.28.13): I re-started my Challenge at the beginning of March, as my daughter is now on solids and the soy no longer bothers her. I take 2 shakes a day (Shape Kit); one for breakfast and one for dinner.
AND MY RESULTS?
February 24th: 141 lbs.
March 3rd: 136.5 lbs.
March 10th: 137 lbs.
March 17th: 134.5 lbs.
March 24th: 131.5 lbs.
My goal is 120 lbs. which is where I was before kids. With being on The Challenge, I am halfway there! Ask me about The Challenge! What do you have to lose?!
Live well!

10.7.12 - Though I've been a fitness instructor for a relatively short time, fitness has always been a part of my life. I started working out to Jane Fonda records, (yes, records), with my mom when I was a little girl and the idea of keeping fit and staying healthy never left me. I then went to dancing ballet and moved into all genres of dance from there. I've always loved music, and expressing myself through movement.
Because of my closeness with some sort of fitness throughout my life, I've come across MANY exercise regiments and videos, fad diets, weight loss supplements, and a lot of theories and advice on how to get weight off and keep it off for good. And though I have never had a problem with my weight, some I tried, many I did not. But I do believe I've heard it all.
Somewhere along the line I discovered that true fitness has more to do with what you put into your body than any exercise you could ever do. In fact, so many of my ZUMBA students ask me what they can do to lose weight and I always tell them to change what they eat. I believe the weight loss breakdown looks something like this: 80% what you eat, 10% cardio and 10% weight training.
But let's face it, old habits die hard. It's difficult for most of us to stick to "healthy eating" when we've been eating so unhealthy for so long. The point of eating healthy is so that we take in the maximum amount of nutrients so that our bodies work efficiently. But again, being realistic, even the healthiest eater can run into problems eating all the foods one needs in order to be at their tip top best. And then entered the Body By Vi system.
When I first came across the ViSalus program, I admit I was bit skeptical. It seemed like just another "diet" program ... until I kept hearing about it. Again and again and again and I began to do some research. I discovered the THOUSANDS of people whose lives had been changed by taking the Vi-Shakes. I learned that it's not a "diet" at all. It's a shake full of all the nutrients the body needs to run effectively. I learned it can be used as a weight loss supplement, but because it is so nutritionally sound, it can also be used to stabilize/balance nutrition.
I began to read of the countless testimonies of people who changed their lives on the shakes, like those with diabetes who were able to get off their medications, who lowered their cholesterol, who lessened the pain of their fibromyalgia, who beat their IBS, and on and on ... And I saw all of the before and after pictures of the people who had lost so much weight after going on the 90-Day Challenge. And it got me excited! So excited, I decided to try it myself.
I began my 90-Day Challenge on the Shape Kit, taking 2 shakes a day as meal replacements for breakfast and lunch, while snacking in between and having a healthy dinner. With a whopping 12 grams of protein per shake, you certainly are not hungry. By the morning of the third day, I discovered that I had lost 2 lbs. -- IN 2 DAYS I LOST 2 POUNDS! But I also discovered that my daughter, whom I'm nursing, was not in love with the soy and so I had to stop. My plan is to resume my challenge as soon as I can!
In the meantime, I promote this product because it works. The thousands of happy customers don't lie. I like to say "I'm telling you, not selling you." I invite you take a look at the site, read the information, check out the pictures and come to your own conclusion. I value and appreciate the relationship I have with all my students and I would never steer them wrong. If you are looking to lose weight, bulk up, and/or find a nutritional balance, this program is for you.
Now when I student asks me how best to lose the weight, I tell them to try The Body By Vi 90-Day Challenge!
Good luck to you!
